_카츠라 칸에 대해

일본 교토 출신의 카츠라 칸은 일본 부토를 개척한 세대를 대표하는 마스터 아티스트 중 한 명이다. 그는 1979-1981에 일본의 독창적인 부토 그룹 “ Byakkosha”에서 활동하였으며 그 후 20년 동안 인도네시아와 태국을 기반으로 부토 연구를 지속하고 2001년에는 발칸 지역에서 새로운 커뮤니케이션 작업을 하였다. 그는 안무가일뿐 아니라 유명한 솔로무용가이자 다양한 협동 공연을 해 온 아티스트이다. 지난 30년 동안 칸은 다양한 문화권을 넘나들며 창조적인 작업을 지속해 왔으며 특히 아프리카, 유럽 그리고 동남아시아 의 오지에 있는 소위 “소수문화를 대표하는 무용가들” 과 다양한 작업을 해 왔다. 2012 년 그는 프랑스의 "Beckett BUTOH Notation"에서 리서치를 하며 샌프란시스코에 기반한 댄스 온타리오 프로젝트의 일환으로 “Oracle & Enigma”의 작업을 하였다.

KATSURA Kan, a native of Kyoto, is a Master Butoh artist from among the ranks of Japan's senior generation of Butoh. He performed with the seminal Butoh troupe, “Byakkosha” 1979-1981 and then researching in Indonesia and Thailand for 20 years. In 2001, kan started work in Balkan region for the new communication works. He is a celebrated solo and collaborative performer as well as a choreographer. Kan has worked with what he calls “minority dancers” all over the world, in remote locations throughout Africa, Europe and South East Asia for the past 30 years, in addition to his creative works in cosmopolitan culture. Currently, he did researching "Beckett BUTOH Notation" in France, and “Oracle & Enigma” as a Dance Oratorio project in San Francisco in 2012.
